CHAMPAIGN – Landon Blanton and Lucas Blanton wrapped up the 2023-24 wrestling season by participating in the IHSA Class 1A State Wrestling Tournament held Feb. 15-17 at the State Farm Center on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign.

CHAMPAIGN – Landon Blanton and Lucas Blanton wrapped up the 2023-24 wrestling season by participating in the IHSA Class 1A State Wrestling Tournament held Feb. 15-17 at the State Farm Center on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign.
Landon Blanton wrestled three matches at 120 pounds, winning one. He opened the action with a 13-3 loss to Clinton VerHeecke of Unity Christian. Blanton’s next match resulted in a 7-2 win over Landon Dooley of Wilmington before he was pinned by Dean Wainwright of Riverdale at the 5:06 mark to get eliminated from further competition.
Landon Blanton concluded the season with a 37-12 record.
Lucas Blanton dropped both of his matches by a narrow margin in the 175-pound weight division. He fell by 3-1 count to Ty Carter of Red Bud in the opening round and then was edged by Josue Hernandez of DeLaSalle, 7-6, in his final match of the season.
Lucas Blanton had a final record of 38-13.
