AMBOY — It was a good week on the hardwood for the Amboy Lady Clippers as they won both of their games to improve their record to 16-7 overall and 7-1 in the Northwest Upstate Illini Conference. They are tied for first in league play.

Amboy cruised to a 62-19 victory at Fulton on Jan. 25. After an 18-4 first-quarter lead, the Lady Clippers exploded to a 38-11 halftime margin.

Olivia Dinges had a super night for the winners with 21 points, 16 rebounds and four assists. Maeve Larson scored in all four quarters, but she did most of her damage in the first frame. She made three long-range shots for eight points and finished the contest with 16 points and four assists.

Elly Jones added 11 points and led with five steals, while Courtney Ortgiesen and Haidyn Zimmerly finished off the scoring with six points apiece. Guards Olivia Miller and Lexi Ketchum had a great night of rebounding with six and five caroms, respectively.

Amboy was looking for revenge against Polo and the Lady Clippers got it with a 43-38 verdict over the Lady Marcos on Jan. 27 at Polo. AHS lost to a hot-shooting Polo squad by five points on Jan. 22.

Again, the Lady Clippers had three players in double figure scoring. Dinges had her second double-double of the week with 13 points and 15 rebounds, while she added four assists and three steals. It was her 10th double-double of the season. Jones pumped in 12 points, had four assists and two steals, and Larson provided 10 points, six rebounds and three steals.

Also, Ortgiesen came away with four points and four caroms, Miller scored a big basket early for her two points and Ketchum made probably the most important basket of the game for her two tallies.
