AMBOY — The Amboy Lady Clippers posted a pair of impressive softball victories over Pecatonica in Northwest Upstate Illini Conference play.
AHS hosted Pecatonica on March 26 came away with an 11-0 win in a game halted in the fifth by the 10-run rule.
Amboy set the tone in the first inning with eight runs. It added one run in the third and two more in the fourth to go in front by double-digits.
Alison O’Rourke had a perfect 3 for 3 day at the plate with a single, double, triple and three RBI. Bailee Highbarger and Kyleigh Donna each had two singles, while Dani Hochstatter tripled and drove in a pair.
Highbarger shut down Pecatonica’s offense, allowing just three hits and striking out four.

Two days later the Lady Clippers journeyed to Pecatonica and this time it was a 21-0 shutout victory for Amboy. The game was stopped in the fourth inning.
Amboy scored seven runs in the first, six in the second and eight in the third.
O’Rourke had another big day on offense with two doubles, a single and six runs batted in. Gabby Jones collected three singles and five RBI, while Mallory Powers and Donna each singled twice, with Powers driving in three.
Baylie Nickel was the winning pitcher, throwing a no-hitter and striking out one. She did not issue a free pass.
