AMBOY — Amboy-LaMoille cross country runners went up against 11 other teams in the Erie Panther Invitational on Oct. 2 at Lake Erie Country Club.
A-L’s girls’ team was the only team to have three medalists in the top 15 runners. Margaret Vaessen led the way with a second-place finish in a time of 20:07. Also earning medals were Kaitlyn Ortgiesen in eighth place with a time of 21:37 and Kelynn Boyle in 12thplace with a time of 21:47. Bailey Bickett finished 41stin 25:36.
The Lady Clippers did not have a complete team so were not figured in the team standings.
In the boys’ competition, the Clippers finished in third place with 80 points.
A-L had a pair of medalists. Tom Stamberger took fifth-place honors with a time of 16:49 and Brock Loftus placed 15thin 17:26.
Also competing for the Clippers were Mateo Ramis (18th, 17:55), Ian Eller (21st, 18:13), Calvin Deering (36th, 19:11) and Andruw Jones (63rd, 20:43).

The A-L harriers competed in the Gary Coates Invitational in Princeton on Oct. 4.
The varsity girls raced three miles and Vaessen finished in second place overall with a time of 19:53. Other Lady Clipper participants included Ortgiesen (11th, 21:33), Boyle (14th, 21:39) and Bickett (53rd, 25:31).
Stamberger was the lone varsity boy competing for the Clippers and he took second place overall with a time of 16:43 over three miles.
The A-L freshman-sophomore boys’ team finished first in the team standings in the 1.94-mile race. Loftus (10:53) and Eller (11:03) led the way for the Clippers, finishing second and third overall, respectively. Ramis occupied the fifth position in a time of 11:15, while Deering (12th, 11:50) and Jones (20th, 12:15) also raced.
Amboy-LaMoille had 42 points, followed by LaSalle-Peru 46, Kewanee 85, Lowpoint-Washburn/Roanoke 92, Princeton 125 and Morris 140.
