At approximately 10:26 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18, deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to 291 IL Route 2, in Dixon, for a report of motor vehicle theft.

At approximately 10:26 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18, deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to 291 IL Route 2, in Dixon, for a report of motor vehicle theft.
The vehicle was located by the Dixon Police Department and stopped as it came into Dixon city limits.
The driver was identified as William Whitford, 31 years of age, from Earlville, IL.
Through the investigation, William Whitford, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – Class 1 Felony
- Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Vehicle – Class 2 Felony
- Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer – Class 2 Felony
- Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer – Class 4 Felony
- Criminal Trespass to Vehicle – Class A Misdemeanor
- Driving while License Revoked – Class A Misdemeanor
- Failure to Appear Warrant for Parole Violation
