Clippers place second at Panther Invitational

ERIE – The Amboy cross country runners participated in the Panther Invitational at Lake Erie Country Club on Oct. 5.

The Amboy boys took second place in the team standings with 49 points, finishing behind only Riverdale, which had 25 points. Rounding out the top five teams were Newman (79), Erie-Prophetstown (108) and Monmouth-Roseville (158). The bottom of the standings included Bureau Valley (160), Kewanee (208), Orion (214), Princeton (220) and Rockridge (261).

Brock Loftus led the way for the Clippers with a second-place finish in a time of 16:00.59. Ian Eller was next in for AHS in sixth place overall with a time of 17:09.46, while Kyler McNinch also snuck into the top 10 in 10th place with a clocking of 17:14.96.

The next five runners for Amboy were Wyatt Lundquist (16th, 17:38.75), Charlie Dickinson (17th, 17:47.03), Atticus Horner (22nd, 18:04.75), Andruw Jones (29th, 18:36.21) and Kelton Schwamberger (32nd, 18:40.18). Rounding out the Clippers’ lineup were Garrett Pertell (35th, 18:50.08), Hayden Zacharias (43rd, 19:23.52), Ryan Dickinson (51st, 19:39.31) and Jaden Haley (90th, 22:59.33).

In the girls’ competition, Amboy entered four runners and Lauren Althaus was the first to cross the finish line in third place overall with a time of 20:48.62. Bailey Ellis checked in next in 15th place at 22:53.62, while Addison Pertell was 30th (24:18.46) Natalie Pratt was 43rd (25:39.34).

Erie-Prophetstown grabbed the top spot in the team standings with 35 points, followed by Stockton (59), Princeton (73), Rockridge (87) and Bureau Valley (95).
