KIRKLAND – The Amboy/LaMoille/Ohio football team had another offensive explosion as it routed Kirkland Hiawatha, 60-36, on Oct. 1 at Kirkland. It was the second 60-point outburst by the Clippers in the last three games.
The Clippers jumped out to a 16-0 lead after the opening stanza and then they erupted for 38 second-quarter points. Hiawatha was able to put 22 points on the board in the second period. Amboy clung to a 38-30 advantage in the second before it scored two consecutive touchdowns to take a 54-22 lead to intermission.
Amboy (3-3) went scoreless in the third frame before scoring once in the fourth, while the Hawks managed two touchdowns in the second half.
This week’s scheduled varsity game with Ashton-Franklin Center has been canceled, but there will be a junior varsity game between the two teams starting at 7 p.m. at the AHS field.
The remainder of Amboy’s varsity schedule has it traveling to Orangeville for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, Oct. 16 and then trekking to Alden-Hebron on Friday, Oct. 22 for a 7 p.m. start.
