AMBOY – The Amboy Clippers played their first game of the season on their home hardwood and dropped a 52-43 decision to Lanark Eastland on Nov. 27.
The game was tight through three quarters with Eastland on top 12-7 after one period and 22-19 at the break. The Cougars held a 33-29 margin heading to the fourth frame where they outscored Amboy, 19-14, to claim the win.
Mitchell McLaughlin and Preston Henkel tied for the team lead in scoring for Amboy with 14 points apiece. McLaughlin was a perfect six of six from the free throw line, while Henkel poured in three three-point field goals.
