The Clippers put together timely hitting and excellent pitching to cruise past Mendota, 7-0, in a nonconference contest on March 29 at City Park.

Amboy’s Mitchell McLaughlin was in total command on the hill as the senior allowed just three hits and struck out 15 of the possible 21 outs to record the victory. He issued just one free pass.

McLaughlin got plenty of offensive support from his teammates. Zimmerly stroked two singles, a double and drove in a run. His RBI came in the first as the Clippers put two runs on the board to grab the early lead.

Amboy added two more runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and capped off the scoring with a pair in the sixth.

Lane Boehle had a good day at the plate with a single, double and two RBI, while Maverick Lindenmeyer singled and doubled, and Clayton Kemp singled twice.
