Clippers come up short in Oregon


AMBOY – The Amboy Clippers staged a furious fourth-quarter rally, but came up two points short in a 60-58 loss to Oregon on Jan. 26 at the AHS gym.

Oregon looked to be in control of the contest as it turned a 14-10 lead after the opening quarter into a 38-24 halftime advantage. The Clippers were still staring up at a 46-35 deficit with just eight minutes left when they fought back in the fourth period sparked by nine points from Mitchell McLaughlin, but the comeback fell short.

McLaughlin paced the Clippers with 21 points, while Hunter Zimmerly dropped in 18 markers.
