On Tues. Sept. 17, the Amboy FFA competed in the Section 2 Land Use Contest, and won as a team. Students evaluated four pits that were dug, and answered questions related to what could be done with the land for either agricultural practices or home site practices.

Our team of four, who made up our team score were Henry Klein, Tyler Mahar, Aden Spinelli, and Chuck Wilson.

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, FFA Ag Sales team won the section contest held at Sauk Valley Community College. This year the students are being mock Kubota Skidsteer salesman. The students had to take a test, make a team plan to sell their equipment, and then hold an individual sales meeting with a potential customer. They will now advance to districts to compete in the middle of the month.

The team comprised of Anna Carlson, Grace Althaus, Tanner Welch, and Jake Dinges. Good luck to them at districts.

Physical science classes are starting on mousetrap cars. Students start their designs with a mousetrap, four CDs, and a few dowel rods. The goal is to make the cars go over 50 feet down the hallway. Students run trials and make adjustments to make their cars go further than their peers.

Remember to put the fall play, “The Play That Goes Wrong” on your calendar. It will take stage at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3. The cast and crew are looking forward to a great show.

Make sure to support the Amboy Education Foundation by purchasing your gas at Amboy Shell at the center pump. Shell donates a portion of every purchase from the center pump only to the Education Foundation during the month of October. This organization gives the schools and students thousands of dollars every year.
