SUBLETTE — This is not the last year of the Sublette Toy Show.

Don Dinges, one of the show’s organizers, told the Sublette Village Board during their monthly meeting on Monday night, that he has heard rumors around town that this is the final year for the show. The toy show is scheduled for March 18 and 19.

Dinges wanted to put the rumors to rest. He said that this will not be the final year of the show. In fact, Dinges said, more people have volunteered this year than in previous years.

Dinges also reported Max Armstrong will be on the speaker for the dinner on Saturday night at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Hall. Dinges said tickets are still available. To purchase tickets contact Dinges, Dean Stephenitch or Pioneer State Bank. The cost is $20 per ticket and includes catered dinner, program and door prizes.

Dinges also updated the board that a laundromat should be opening in Sublette in April, and that someone had expressed interested in opening an ice cream parlor in Sublette.

In other board business:

  • Due to weather on Monday, garbage pick-up for Sublette will be delayed one day this week. Garbage pick-up will be on Friday this week.
  • On March 23 at 7 p.m., the Village of Sublette will host an informational meeting on the proposed county jail referendum in the Ellice Dinges Center. This will also be a time to meet the candidates running for the village board.
  • The board set its year-end meeting for 7 p.m., on Thursday, April 27, at the Ellice Dinges Center. This meeting will be final meeting of the current board and the newly elected board will be sworn in.
  • ComEd will blitz the village of Sublette on one day in April or May to install smart meters on homes and businesses.
  • Village President John Stenzel said Lee County has stopped the clean-up grant the village previously received. The board approved a motion to pay $400 to the 4-H club and $400 to the park district to help with a village clean-up in April. The date is to be determined.
  • Bonnell’s General Store is now offering video gaming.

All members of the board were present except Jim Hochstatter and Tim Bonnell.

The next village board meeting will be held at 7 p.m., on Monday, April 10, at the Ellice Dinges Center in Sublette.
