Severe weather spotter training offered in Dixon Feb. 21

DIXON — The Lee County Office of Emergency Management and Ogle County Emergency Management Agency will be hosting a weather spotter training presented by the National Weather Service on Feb. 21, at  Sauk Valley Community College, 173 IL Rte. 2, Dixon in room 1K04.  

The class begins at 6:30 p.m. and will last approximately one and one half hours. The training consists of a slide and video program, which teaches about severe storm structure, and how to identify cloud features and other environmental clues to identify severe storms and tornadoes. 

This training is open to anyone interested in the weather.  This is a great opportunity for local industry safety team representatives, who are task with the job of issuing severe weather instructions to facility employees to understand or refresh on signs of approaching severe weather.  

Spotting approaching severe weather and issuing a timely warning will saves lives.  Whether you work in a factory, on farm, out in the yard, or play on a sports field or golf course, this class could provide you with lifesaving information.

There is no charge for the class.
