Clippers boys basketball team endures tough week

The Amboy boys basketball team is on track to its season goal of improving from game to game.

However, this week saw tough competition as the Clippers won one of five contests.

On Tuesday, Dec. 12, AHS traveled to Manlius where they fell to Bureau Valley 60-33.

Senior Troy Anderson scored 12 points, junior Eddie Jones added nine, and junior Kabe Daniels chipped in six for the Clippers.

Amboy was victorious on Thursday, Dec. 14 as it beat Leland 38-32 behind 20 points from Jones. Junior Quinn Leffelman scored six, senior Eliseo Vazquez-Tapia recorded five, Anderson four, and junior Joel Billhorn three.

The Clippers are participating in the Eastland Tournament, which started Saturday, Dec. 16 and finishes Thursday, Dec. 21.

The squad played two games on Dec. 16 falling to Pecatonica, 70-28, and South Beloit, 62-38.

Jones led the Clippers with 14 points against Pecatonica, while Billhorn recorded six and Daniels had four. Jones also led the team against South Beloit with 11 points. Daniels scored eight and sophomore Ezra Parker tallied five.

In a Eastland Tournament game on Tuesday, Dec. 18, Anderson scored 10 and Jones had nine in a losing effort, 56-35, against Galena.
