Our Draw Down will be Saturday, May 13, at the Amboy Community Building. Kevin Malach will be cooking the delicious chicken again this year. Please call 857-4800 or 440-8195 to get your ticket or if you are willing to donate to our silent auction. Please don’t wait as our tickets get sold out early.

AmeriCorps

This is a great program that gives a living stipend to people that help at Teen Turf. It is run through Sauk Valley College. There are two positions open for the summer and with the education award it is about $10 per hour. You must be a high school graduate or have your GED.  Family income is not a factor. If you like kids and want to help with our summer program please call 440-8195.

HIGH – FIVES

High – Fives to Amboy KC’S Knights of Columbus for their generous donation for our programs.  The Amboy Food and Liquor Store again donated plates, cups, and bowls to help us in feeding all of our kids. Pam Love, Pat Loo and Leon gave us donations of food and prizes. Donna Wellman made her famously delicious chocolate chip cookies for the 45 kids that came for early out on Thursday. The parent’s organization from the musical donated many delicious treats also. Katie and John Dickinson donated ham for the kids. Kendra, Jessie and Sammy Nauman family donated bread and Laura Strode sent candy with Tom.

HOMEWORK CLUB

Spring break will be the week of March 27. Our After School Program is for any student from third grade and older. The Central School students will ride a District bus to Teen Turf. They must have a note to their teachers so they can leave school with the bus students and get on Dave Sutton or Pete Ayling’s bus. Junior High students walk just down the street. Upon arrival, they are fed a snack have some free time to burn off built up energy from sitting in class all day.  Then we start homework. We need some more volunteers that can come and listen to kids read or do flash cards. Our volunteers come but not every day so please search your heart and try to come for just one hour once a week. The kids need to be picked up by 5 p.m. Your youth can come one, two or all four days. We will help and work with your family schedule. Just give us a call.  High – Fives to our faithful helpers: Janet Shaw, Mark and Veronica Grossman, Christine Noble, and Sue Tyrell Null, and Larry Piper that help make our program so successful.

TAX FREE DONATIONS

There is an account set up at First Federal Savings and Loan, First National Bank, and Pioneer State Bank of Sublette if you would like to donate to our programs. All donations are tax deductible as we are a 501(c)3. Teen Turf has been in existence for more than 20 years. Since we do not receive any state or federal money we survive on the generosity of the community.  United Way has been a huge supporter for 15 years. If you are able to help us out please send your donations to Teen Turf P. O. Box 321 Amboy, Illinois 61310

AEROBICS

Chair aerobics will be held at 10 a.m., every Tuesday and Thursday morning. Aubrey Burke has high intensity aerobics from 5:15 – 6:15 p.m., on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Our philosophy is pay or pray. So if you cannot afford a donation then say some extra prayers for Teen Turf. The donated money helps with the high utility bills.

RECYCLED CANS

Yes we are still recycling cans. Just put your bags behind the fence on the red trailer. The white wire rack is for plastic and paper recycle items. Be sure that all the materials are tied and secured in bags or boxes. High Fives to everyone that donates cans. It helps our environment and our van upkeep. If you have cans that need to be picked up just call 857-4800.

WISH LIST

We still need kind and loving people to come and help listen to our younger kids read. We need help in cleaning the building and preparing food for the kids. We need prayers and the support of our whole community to keep our After School Program up and running smoothly.

High fives to all the people that have donated to keep our programs up and running.
