Despite the cool and rainy weather on May 20, the Lee County Master Gardeners had a great turnout for their annual plant sale. Marilyn Kemmerer, center, of the University of Illinois Amboy Extension Office, had made sure the word was out that the sale was to be held rain or shine. The Lee County 4-H grounds provided a dry venue for the hundreds of plants available to purchase. There was a large selection ranging from trees and shrubs to herbs and houseplants to vegetables and owers. Many of the plants were grown by the LCMG and some were donations to the group from supporters. The plant sale is a major fundraiser for the group. The Master Gardener program is a 11-13 week course available through the University of Illinois Extension.
