AMBOY – On Friday, Sept. 28, Denny Hermes joined the Amboy FFA Chapter on the football field during half time and presented them with a grant for $10,000 on behalf of the America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education, a program that helps farmers support their local rural public school districts.
Since 2011, this Monsanto Fund program has given over $16 millions to rural school districts to enhance math and science education.
After the school district receives its first nomination, the Monsanto Fund notifies them and encourages them to design a project for the grant that enhances math and or science education in their district. School districts are responsible for submitting a grant application.
Grant applications are judges based on the merit of the application, need and community support.
The grant will be used to increase the incorporation of welding in both agriculture mechanics and STEM to increase science, math and technical knowledge within the Amboy Community School District by installing a new ventilation system.
