AMBOY — Students from Amboy High School, Amboy Junior High School, and Central Elementary School have been hard at work preparing for this year’s spring musical, “Annie,” to be presented on March 9, 10, and 11 in the high school auditorium.

This year’s show is the Broadway musical based on the popular comic strip about an orphaned redhead named “Annie,” who is on a mission to find her parents in 1930s New York City.

“Annie” is directed by Aubrey Burke with Kathy Mekeel as music director, and is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

The production boasts a large cast headed by Sydney Friel in the role of Annie. She is supported by a cast of 19 young ladies who play the orphans at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. Ben Clark plays the role of Daddy Warbucks, while Adriana Bartoschek plays the part of Grace Farrell.  The boozy Miss Hannigan is played by Evelyn Curl, with Lucas Blake as Rooster Hannigan and Gabby Ketchum as Lily St. Regis.

The cast features a large group of supporting performers and chorus members from the high school, Amboy Junior High School, and Central Elementary School.

Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are currently on sale at Amboy High School from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays and will also be available at the door. More ticket information is avaiable by calling the high school office at 815-857-3632.  Please join the AHS Music Department and its many talented students for a wonderful, family friendly performance.
