Amboy’s Meyer nominated to Illinois Farm Bureau Board of Directors

BLOOMINGTON – Don Meyer of Amboy in Lee County was nominated to serve District 4 on the Illinois Farm Bureau® (IFB) Board of Directors at the organization’s 2020 virtual business meeting on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Meyer was nominated to a two-year term to represent IFB members in LaSalle, Lee and Bureau counties. Meyer operates a family-owned corn and soybean farm in Lee County.

Meyer currently serves as president of the Lee County Farm Bureau.

He is a current member of the Illinois Corn Growers Association and has served his local ag community as a committee member for the Lee County Farm Service Agency.

In 2012, Meyer participated in and graduated from the Illinois Farm Bureau’s Agricultural Leaders of Tomorrow (ALOT) program. The ALOT program provides select Illinois Farm Bureau members an opportunity to enrich their leadership abilities and provide a greater voice for agriculture in Illinois.

Meyer graduated from Amboy High School, later receiving a bachelor’s degree in agriculture science from Western Illinois University. He went on to receive an MBA from Northern Illinois University.

He and his wife, Paula, have two adult children.

The Illinois Farm Bureau is a member of the American Farm Bureau Federation, a national organization of farmers and ranchers. Founded in 1916, IFB is a non-profit, membership organization directed by farmers who join through their county Farm Bureau. IFB has a total membership of more than 378,237 and a voting membership of 77,909. IFB represents three out of four Illinois farmers.
