AMBOY — The Amboy High School National Honor Society inducted 15 new members into NHS during a ceremony held on April 9th in the school auditorium.
During the ceremony, the current National Honor Society officers talked about the importance of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These qualities are important to have as a National Honor Society member.
Throughout the year, the Amboy National Honor Society does various service projects at the high school such as peer tutoring and weekly school recycling collection. The National Honor Society is able to make yearly donations to the Amboy Education Foundation, the local food pantry, Buddy Bags program, and the United Way by raising funds through working the home football concession stand. NHS also coordinates a Pennies for Patients drive for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and matches the funds donated by the community at various coin box donation sites.
