The Amboy FFA Chapter brought Santa’s Elves to town on Saturday, as they were found in downtown Amboy from 12-4 p.m.

AMBOY — The next drawing for in 2020 Amboy Hometown Virtual Christmas Walk will be held on Dec. 11.
On Dec. 11, the grand prize giveaway is sponsored by Hansons Chiropractic, Turquoise Turtle Apothecary, Prime Time Live, Mary Anne Duve, Subway, Two Sisters On Main, Last Alarm, The Warehouse Boutique, Napa, Amboy Fire Department, Johnson Oil/Amboy Shell, Nails By Lisa, Amboy Veterinary Clinic, Amboy Depot Museum, Main Hair Salon ( Kirsten, Yolane, Sara, Lisa), Revolution Wellness, Iron Tree, Amboy Garden Shop, First National Bank in Amboy, First Federal Savings Bank, Dollar General, and Amboy Pharmacy. It includes 1 large basket filled with goodies from these participating businesses. Stop by City Halls windows to take a peek at what they have to offer. There will also be a second winner for our Folsom’s Bakery cookie platter.
The boxes have been emptied and are ready for a new week full of names. Stop by Amboy Food & Liquor, Amboy Shell, Amboy Hometown Pharmacy and City Hall to sign up again. You can’t sign up too much. You may also enter the drawings by email at amboychristmaswalk@yahoo.com. Gift baskets will be on display at City Hall.

The winners will be drawn on Dec. 11 and 18.
The winners from the Dec. 4th drawing are: Brooke Weidman, Sandy Wittenauer, Kimee Dale, Larry Eisenberg, Sonja Berogan, Adri Whitney, Laurie Johnson, Amy McCoy, and Pam Love. They won either a turkey or ham, courtesy of the City of Amboy.
Folsom’s Bakery also donated a generous cookie platter, and the winner of the platter is Carol Hart.
The Facebook giveaway winner for the Amboy Family Restaurant & Pizza gift certificate, Polar Express, Popcorn, & The Main Flower Shop Christmas tin is Lana Duncan-Hambley. Thanks to Mason Ely for his generous donation, they were able to give away an extra prize, and the second winner is Jeff Ackert.
The Bubba Bug Popcorn Giveaway winners are Rosemary Buckley and Corinne Powers.
Keep an eye on the Amboy Christmas Walk Facebook page each Friday for a special appearance from the man in red himself, Santa. Be on the lookout for special popup giveaways happening on Facebook over the next few weeks, as they have got lots in store.
Other events planned in December include:
• Pankhurst Memorial Library will have a Curbside Pick-Up Craft, along with their Tales for Tots & Kids bags available.
• Lee County Ag in the Classroom will be hosting a Story Walk Nov. 30-Dec. 19, where you can view the pages of the book, “A Wish To Be A Christmas Tree,” in the downtown windows. Pick-up craft at Pankhurst Memorial Library. Follow Ag in the Classroom and Amboy Hometown Christmas Walk on Facebook, tagging for a chance to win the book in hardcover.
• The Amboy Fire Protection District will be hosting an Amboy Hometown Christmas Spirit Parade on Dec. 12. No gatherings needed, as Santa and his helpers will be making their way through a routed parade in our Amboy neighborhoods! Churches, businesses, or organizations are welcome to join! • Extra giveaways will be happening during the month of December.
