AMBOY — Despite the foggy morning and two other car shows in the area, the Amboy Depot Days Car Show was very successful.
“Guys that came from Rockford told me they nearly didn’t come because it was so foggy in the morning,” said Garth Dallam, one of the Amboy Depot Days Car Show organizers. “They said they missed their turn off and everything.”
Once the fog lifted, the heat turned up. But the hot humid, oppressive humidity, didn’t keep the car guys down.
“We had approximately 400 entries,” said Dallam. “Which is about average.”
This year, organizers lined vehicles up first come, first serve. Vehicles were still judged by classes.
“We were very pleased with how things went with the changes this year,” Dallam said. “We parked and judged the cars differently and aside from a few hiccups, it went pretty good.”
