Construction to begin over Green River

DIXON – The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that weather permitting, construction work on the structure carrying US 52 over the Green River on the south edge of Amboy began on Wednesday, August 21. Sjostrom & Sons, Inc. will be starting the $388,000 contract to make improvements to the expansion joins and bridge deck surface.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 26, traffic will be reduced to one lane utilizing temporary traffic signals to complete the repairs. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-October.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
