LEE COUNTY — The Lee County Board met in regular session on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 9 a.m.
Lee County Sheriff John Simonton, recognized the retirement of K9 Pepper from the force. Pepper and his handler, Derek Ranken were on hand for the recognition and presented a plaque and some bones for retirement.
Simonton also recognized Deb Killian for 25 years of employment in Lee County Sheriff’s Department as a telecommunicator.
Lee County States Attorney Matthew Klahn gave an overview of the role that county board members encounter for the new members of the board. He walked through a website IACBM (Illinois Association of County Board Members). It outlines the duties of county board members, county employees, departments and personnel.
A petition was sent to the zoning board for a variance for the construction of a water tower.
A petition from the zoning board was approved for Irish Eyes Farms, for ag district special use.
Public Safety chairman, Mike Koppien reported that an AED unit has been installed on the third floor of the old courthouse and hopes that a stretcher will soon be installed as well.
In other business, the board passed a resolution from State’s Attorney Appellate Prosecutor for Fiscal Year 2019, appropriating $12,000; they also approved updating Lee County’s Banking resolutions to reflect current officers of Lee County; and authorized transfer from General Fund contingencies $20,038.01 to transportation of prisoners. They also approved the sheriff’s request for replacement hire for patrol and they approved a request for a replacement hire for general clerical.
