DIXON — The Lee County Board received an update on the Law Enforcement Center from Lee County Sheriff John Simonton at the meeting held on Tuesday, June. 19. The building is on track and all systems are go. The plan is to have the shell erected and the roof on so that workers can be out of the elements over the winter months.

Addressing security measures, Simonton and Lee County Board Chair Jim Wentling, will be permanently locking the Old Courthouse’s Second Street entrances to reduce the amount of public access to the building. The building will be accessible to the public from the south side of the courthouse’s third street entrance via stairs and handicap ramp.

The board approved a motion to suspend the rules under VIII Rules and Procedures. They also approved three ordinances for the Enterprise Zone.

An ordinance regarding law enforcement regulations will be held over until July.

The prevailing wage, which was held over from the May meeting, was approved with a roll call vote, 14 ayes and 6 nays.

The board approved the appointment of William Shaw, trustee of the Amboy Fire Protection District for a three year term.
