AMBOY – The Amboy volleyball team started the ninth and final week of the regular season knowing the IHSA postseason began Monday, Oct. 28.
The week started with the Lady Clippers hosting Somonauk Monday, Oct. 21in non-conference contests.
The varsity team won in three sets, 25-23, 19-25, 25-23. Senior Tyrah Vaessen led with nine kills and two blocks, junior Kierra Karlson recorded five kills and four blocks, and juniors Peyton Payne and Jillian Anderson chipped in three kills each.
The junior varsity squad won 25-8, 25-17 and the freshman were victorious 28-26, 25-18.
The next day, Amboy traveled to Fulton and fell 25-20, 25-13 in a Northwest Upstate Illini Conference South Division match.
Anderson tallied two kills and six digs, junior Ellie McLaughlin secured two kills and five digs, and senior Emersyn Noble had 12 digs.
The junior varsity club fell 25-22 and 25-14, while the freshman (3-12-7) lost 25-19, 25-16.
Amboy varsity and junior varsity ended their season on Thursday, Oct. 24 with home contests against NUIC foe, Polo.
Varsity fell 25-16, 25-27, 26-24 as Vaessen had three kills, three blocks, and six digs.
The junior varsity team pulled out a three-set victory, 25-23, 6-25, 25-23 to end the season at 19-9-2.
