Sublette Board to end fiscal year with special meeting on April 27th

SUBLETTE — The current Sublette Village Board has one more meeting before the newly elected officials will be sworn in.

The board met for its regular monthly meeting on Monday night at the Ellice Dinges Center. All were present except trustee Tim Bonnell.

The current board will hold its final Fiscal Yearend meeting at 7 p.m., on Thursday, April 27, at the Ellice Dinges Center. During that time, the newly elected officials will be sworn in. Only two members of the current board will remain.

Economic Development

Don Dinges reported to the board that he has entered the Village of Sublette float in the Mendota Sweet Corn Festival in August and that Rock Falls had contacted him and asked if the village would enter the float in their event as well.

Pertaining to the 2018 Sublette Antique Toy and Tractor Show, Dinges said John Deere is having its Gathering of the Green the same weekend as Sublette’s show, so it’s looking like Oliver Tractors will be the featured tractor next year.

Dinges also reported that on upcoming events including a Train Show for November; a cruise night on May 13; and the car show to be held in conjunction with the Sublette Fest the Saturday after Labor Day.

In other board news:

  • The village has scheduled a clean-up day for 8 a.m., on Saturday, April 15.
  • The board approved the purchase of new rail on village property outside of LaFiesta. LaFiesta is replacing their stoop. The cost for the new rail, which will look like the current rail, is $3,825. Trustee Jerry Leffelman voted against the purchase. Leffelman said he would like to see other bids before proceeding.
