DIXON – At approximately 7:06 p.m. Sunday, May 4, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call for a multiple vehicle crash in the area of Rt. 2 and Plock Rd. in rural Dixon.

Investigating deputies learned a white 2013 GMC Acadia driven by Sandra L. Seeley, 52 of Dixon, was traveling east bound on IL Rt. 2 at a high rate of speed. Seeley’s vehicle struck a white 2014 Ford Fusion driven by Elizabeth L. Elsasser, 18, of Mount Morris, that was also traveling east bound.

The crash caused the 2013 GMC Acadia to cross the median into west bound traffic, crashing into a black 2012 Dodge Charger driven by Jason K Kopitas, 37, of Ashton.

All three drivers were checked by medical personnel at the scene. Elsasser was transported to OSF Saint Katherine Hospital for minor injuries.

Seeley was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and issued a citation for improper traffic lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Illinois State Police, Dixon Rural Fire Department and Advance EMS Ambulance Services.
