DIXON — Roger L. Michel, 70, of Dixon, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Dixon Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Dixon. He was employed at Do It Best in Dixon for 30 years prior to his retirement.

Memorial visitation will be from 4 – 6 p.m., on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, followed by a 6:15 p.m., prayer service, at the funeral home, with Deacon Terry Wagner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dixon, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Roger was born on Nov. 27, 1946, in Sterling, the son of Leonard and Jane (Hofmann) Michel.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Roger married Georgia L. Bailey on Sept. 16, 1972, in Dixon. He played baseball in his younger years and loved umpiring for many years. Roger was an avid Cubs, Bulls and Broncos fan. He enjoyed watching and going to games with his son Eric. Roger also enjoyed snow skiing, playing golf and collecting basketball cards. He was a wonderful husband and a great dad.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Georgia Michel, of Dixon and one son, Eric Michel, of Cherry Valley; and many nieces and nephews. 

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Ronald Michel; and one sister, Susan Michel.

A memorial has been established.
