LOMBARD — Robert (Bob) R. Keller, 90, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at Lombard Place Assisted Living, Lombard.

Bob was preceded in death by wife, Patricia; his parents; adoptive father, Charles; and siblings, Melvin Jr., Jim, and Betty.

Born in La Crosse, Wis., to Melvin and Olga Reeck Sr., Bob and family lived above Melvin’s auto shop in Wilton, Wis., until tragedy took his brother then father in 1936. “Bobbie” started school at age 4 in Wilton’s one-room-schoolhouse, attended Lane Technical High School in Chicago and worked as a mechanic at Humphry Chevy in Evanston. He joined the army in 1953 (Korean War) as a tank mechanic; later attended Northern Illinois University, where he met future wife, Pat.  Bob taught and was vice principle in Chicago-area schools before moving to Amboy, in 1972.  Initially Junior High principle, Bob taught seventh and eighth grade math to several generations. An Immanuel Lutheran Church member, great math teacher, and one tough-cookie, Bob was a loving father who attended every one of his childrens’ extracurricular events and would do anything to keep family safe and fed.

Thank you, friends, family, and community members for praying for and supporting Bob in so many ways the past several years.

Bob is survived by children, Ann, Susan, and Paul; brother, Charles; and grandchildren Kayley, Alexander, Christopher, Torin, Amara and Myka.
