AMBOY — Dana Merriman, a senior at Amboy High School, has been named the October Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Brenda and Dave Merriman.
GPA: 4.1 on a 4.0 scale
Memberships and Involvements: “I am a member of the National Honors Society, Student Council, Leos club, outdoors club, Amboy softball team, and the Amboy high school Choir. This year I am the Amboy High School Marching Band Drum Major. As well as the Amboy FFA chapter Secretary and Section 2 FFA Vice President. I was also on the Parliamentary Procedure team with my FFA Chapter.”
Awards and Honors: “This year I am the 2021 Miss Amboy as well as the Daughter of the American Revolution winner. Within FFA I have received my Chapter degree and will be working towards my state degree.”
Best Memories of AHS: “My favorite memories from AHS, would have to be homecoming week, attending the National FFA Convention as well as performing with the band. Another favorite memory was getting to watch my brother, Dillon Merriman, make his first touchdown in his football game.”
Future Plans: “After high school, I plan to double major in Agriculture Education and Elementary Education, as well as minor in Criminal Justice and Forensic Science. I have yet to choose a school, but I plan to attend a 4-year university. So far I have been accepted to Illinois State University and Iowa State University.”
