AMBOY — Memorial Day Services will be held at 10 a.m., on Monday, May 29, 2017, at Veterans Park in Amboy.

Grace Klein, 2017 Amboy High School graduate, will be the featured speaker. Klein’s speech is entitled “Faithful Duty.” Klein is the 17-year old daughter of Ed and Chris Klein of Sublette. Grace has spent her high school career focused on Ag Classes and FFA. She taught the Discovery Ag class to the Amboy Junior High eighth graders during the 2015-2016 school year. She has been an FFA Chapter officer for the past four years and a Section officer for the past two years.  Grace was on the State Champion Parliamentary Procedure Team that competed in the National competition last fall. Grace will be competing at the Illinois State FFA Convention in two segments of the public speaking competition: job interview and extemporaneous speaking (composed and performed on the spur of the moment). Grace will be attending Joliet Junior College in the fall and plans to transfer to the University of Illinois to pursue a career in Ag Education.

Flags used for grave sites can be picked up a City Hall. Donations toward the cost is appreciated.

Veterans Park expansion project is ongoing. Suggestions for additions to the park are welcome. Just contact any Legion member and give him your ideas for improvement, or contact Jack Mead or Jim Braida.

A new American Flag and POW Flag will be raised on Memorial Day.

A full schedule of the program appears on page B1 in today’s edition of the Amboy News.
