Amboy overcame an early deficit and doubled up Ashton-Franklin Center, 8-4, in varsity softball action on March 28 at the AHS field.
AFC was up 3-1 after two innings, but the Lady Clippers exploded for three runs in the third and four more in the fourth to take control.
Kylie Highbarger drilled a three-run homer and also singled to pace the attack. Delaney Wilhelm delivered a single and a triple, while Kallie Appleman singled and drove in a run.
Bailee Highbarger settled down after a shaky start in the circle to get the pitching win. She allowed just two hits, walked one and struck out 10.

The Lady Clippers split a double-header with Oregon on April 1 at the AHS field.
The visiting Hawks claimed a 2-1 victory in the opener, handing Amboy its first defeat of the season.
Oregon scored single runs in the first and third innings and Amboy got its only tally in the sixth.
The Lady Clippers managed only two hits – singles by Nataly Jones and Bailee Highbarger.
Karlee Doege was in the circle for Amboy and took the loss.
Amboy regrouped and got its bats in gear in the second game as it posted a 9-1 win.
The Lady Clippers took a 2-0 lead in the first and then Oregon got what proved to be its only run in the top of the second. Amboy scored once in the third and then pulled away with a six-run fifth inning.
Kylie Highbarger (two singles, home run) and Allison O’Rourke (three singles) led the offensive attack with three hits apiece, while Emma Lindemeyer supplied a single and a double.
Bailee Highbarger was in control in the pitching circle as she allowed just four hits and struck out 11. She did not issue a free pass.
Amboy improved to 5-1 on the season.
