Lady Clippers open season with win


AMBOY – The Amboy Lady Clippers defeated Ashton-Franklin Center, 25-15, 25-9 to open the volleyball season on March 23 at the AHS gym.

Leading the way in kills were Mallory Powers with seven, Brooklyn Whelchel with six and Brianne Blaine with four. Gabby Jones collected 22 assists, while Powers had six digs and Eden Lindenmeyer provided four digs. Jones, Blaine and Olivia Dinges had two aces apiece, while Whelchel posted two blocks.

Amboy defeated AFC on March 25. No score was available.

Fulton handed Amboy a 25-20, 25-21 loss on March 27 at the AHS gym.

Powers picked up nine kills and eight digs, Madelyn McLaughlin totaled seven kills, Jones had 21 assists and Lindenmeyer had 14 digs. Also, Lindenmeyer and Dinges each had two aces, while Blaine, Dinges and Whelchel all had a pair of blocks.
