Lady Clippers compete at Fulton Invite


AMBOY The Amboy-LaMoille girls’ track team finished in the upper half of the standings during the Fulton Lady Steamer Invitational on April 18 at Fulton.

The Lady Clippers accumulated 53 points and finished behind champion Clinton (98), Fulton (80), Galena (76) and Erie (57).

Junior Elly Jones led the charge for the Lady Clippers with a pair of first-place finishes. She captured the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 16.17 and had the best leap of 32-3 in claiming the triple jump. Jillian Anderson was second in the high jump at 4-9.

The Lady Clippers went up against 10 other teams in the Oregon Landers-Loomis Invitational on April 21.

A-L scored 57 points and was fifth in the team standings. Rockford Auburn’s 107 points earned it first place.

The Lady Clippers had two first-place finishes – Anderson in the high jump at 4-8 and Jones in the triple jump at 32-7. Jones also picked up two second-place finishes, both in the hurdles. She ran a time of 17.44 in the 100 hurdles and 52.81 in the 300.
