AMBOY — The Amboy News is pleased to announce that Brandon LaChance has been named Editor of The Amboy News.

LaChance started with the paper as a reporter in the spring of 2022.

“We are very pleased to have Brandon on board leading our editorial department,” Publisher Tonja Greenfield said. “He has a passion for covering community news and I know he will continue to produce stories that will keep readers informed of what is happening in Amboy.”

LaChance graduated from Mendota High School in 2004 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

While a freshman at SIU, he began his professional career with three newspapers at the same time, Carterville Courier, Herrin Independent, and the Johnson City Herald.

After college graduation and work with other newspapers, he sent applications to publications and media outlets all over the country. He received three interviews in Cincinnati, Syracuse, and La Salle.

Because of his background, he was hired at the NewsTribune in La Salle where he spent eight years as a sports writer.

LaChance stays involved with many endeavors as he currently writes for the Mendota Reporter, is the host of Edge of Your Seat Podcast, is a radio voice for Starved Rock Media, and referees basketball and volleyball games at both the IESA and IHSA levels.

“I’ve enjoyed covering a vast variety of stories in Amboy and am ecstatic to be entrenched further within the Amboy community and the Amboy news,” LaChance said. “With over 18 years of newspaper experience at 10 different publications and a knowledge and a passion for the area, I’m beyond excited to lead the Amboy News moving forward.”

LaChance began his new role on Nov. 1.
