PERU – The 25th annual Kids’ Free Fishing Expo is scheduled for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at Baker Lake in Peru.
Baker Lake is located on Airport Road north of Shooting Park Road and one-half mile south of Wenzel Road.
Featured at the expo will be beginning fishing “how-to” clinics for boys and girls ages 6 and up with sessions every 15 minutes, fishing games with prizes, casting games, free bait, fishing literature and tips from local fishermen. Participants will also learn to cast, tie a knot, bait a hook, tie a fly, identify your catch, clean a fish and more.
A limited number of fishing poles will be available for loan. Food, games, drinks and snacks will also be provided.
The event is sponsored by The Better Fishing Association of Northern Illinois, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Peru Rescue Station, in association with the cities of Peru and LaSalle.
