AMBOY – Joyce Ann Morrissey, 88, of Amboy, died Friday Nov. 15, 2024 at the home of her daughter in Rockford. 

There was a private graveside service at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Amboy on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024. A memorial has been established to Teen Turf in Amboy. Condolences can be left at www.thejonesfh.com.

Morrissey was born August 18, 1936 in Morrison, the daughter of Clarence and Bernice (Weed) Gorzney.  Joyce was a graduate of Mount Saint Claire in Clinton, IA.  She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Walton and St. Mary Sodality. 

She married Clarence "Bud" Morrissey April 30, 1955 in Morrison.  He preceded her in death Feb. 26, 2021.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Donald and Clarence Gorzney.

Joyce is survived by four sons: Edward Morrissey of Amboy, Robert Joseph Morrissey of Amboy, Clarence Edward (Keri) Morrissey of Warrensburg MO, John (Jan) Morrissey of Dixon; four daughters:  Ann  Rutherford of Harmon, Elizabeth Bontz of Amboy, Patricia (Gary) Coppotelli of Ashland, MO, Margaret (Sharon) DeBerry of Rockford, and Catherine (Jim) Decker of Amboy.

She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  "Ma" as Joyce was known as in the family will be missed for her compassion and love for all her kids, grand kids and great-grand kids.
