AMBOY – Depot Days is upon us August 22-25.

With the yearly carnival, comes the yearly Miss Amboy pageant.

This year there are six girls who are vying for the title of Miss Amboy. Let’s meet three of the six contestants this week and we’ll meet more Miss Amboy hopefuls next week.

Year in school: Senior
Favorite subject: Any agriculture class

Emilie Dempsey
Year in school: Junior
Favorite subject: English
Favorite summer activity? Went to a country concert
Why did you join the pageant? I was first runner-up last year. I’m excited. I think it’s a good experience and I just want to have the real role of being Miss Amboy. I think there is always going to be nerves but since I did it last year, I’ll be more confident.

Jadyn Whelchel
Year in school: Junior
Favorite subject: History, I love learning about history
Favorite summer activity? We went to Minnesota and the Mall of America. It was very fun. I did lots of shopping and spent a lot of money.
Why did you join the pageant? I just want to get out of my comfort zone and talk in front of everyone. I’m trying something new. I’m very nervous.
