MENDOTA – Players on the Amboy girls basketball team stood tall Friday, Jan. 3 during a 51-29 victory against Mendota on the road.
The Lady Clippers had eight players put the ball in the hoop as junior Jillian Anderson led with 11 points, senior Addison Pertell scored 10, both seniors Tyrah Vaessen and Emily Sachs dropped eight each, junior Ellie McLaughlin added six, junior Bella Yanos chimed in five, sophomore Aubrey Wells converted a 2-point field goal, and senior Gloria Parker sank a free throw.
Vaessen was two points away from a double-double as she hauled in a whooping 17 rebounds. Yanos also had double-digit boards with 12, and McLaughlin had eight. Vaessen also led the team in assists with four.
Amboy, 10-6 on the season, has three games this week.
