AMBOY — Dennis James Donna, born Jan. 9, 1955 entered into eternal life on Nov. 2, 2021.

The only son of Elizabeth L. (Grennan) Donna and Peter John Donna, Jr., Dennis' life was filled with many accomplishments despite adversities he faced. He joined Local 498 as an Ironworker after graduating from Amboy High School and was successful in that field while getting married and having three children, Peter, Heidi and Tyler.

When life brought an unexpected change of plans, he straightened his sights on making that challenge into an opportunity. He moved to Dixon, expanded his family when he met Sandra and her two children Kim and Kelly. He enrolled at Kishwaukee College in the field of landscaping and worked hard to start his business Dreamscapes by Dennis. He poured his heart into that business, all the while sharing his love of the art with his sons, building it up for 30 years. He lovingly raised his family and then enjoyed watching it grow with each additional grandchild. He continued to operate Dreamscapes with passion until his retirement in 2019, when he was able to enjoy more time with family and friends.

Dennis was a member of the Local 498, IUOE Local 150, Knights of Columbus, and Broderick's Hunting Club. Dennis leaves behind a legacy of family; some he created, some he cultivated, all of which he loved. He spent time building his community, and volunteered to help others with a variety of things throughout his years. He spent life showing his family what strength and determination can achieve while truly caring for all others.

Dennis believed that family is the most important. Whether he was coaching, spectating, or mentoring, there was never a time he didn't cheer for success and comfort during hard lessons that life sometimes hands out. He had a true heart of service, a caretaker that will be greatly missed by all. He will live on in the hearts of those who love him.

He is survived by his partner, Sandra Morrissey; his children, Peter (Kirsten) Donna, Heidi (Josh) Kinn and Tyler Donna, and Kimberly (Anthony) Brick and Kelly (Scott) Payne, who he raised like his own; Papa to many grandchildren: Samuel Kinn, Kyleigh Donna, Cody Donna, Brooklynn Kinn, Caleb Donna, Alexander Kinn, Matthew Kinn, Landon Donna, Jason Donna, Peyton Payne, Avery Brick, Brynleigh Payne, Jonathan Brick, Thomas Payne, Paisley Payne; and sisters, Lynne (Ronnie) Ortgiesen, Nancy Stahl and Rebecca (Rick Roeing) Donna. All who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Visitation will be from 2 – 6 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Walton. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at St. Patrick Cemetery in Amboy.

A memorial has been established.
