Clippers lose two on the road


AMBOY — Milledgeville took off after the first quarter and cruised past Amboy, 65-25, in varsity boys’ basketball action on Jan. 17 at Milledgeville.

The Clippers hung tough through the first eight minutes, trailing by just a 20-15 count with one quarter in the books. But the Missiles pulled away in the second period, outscoring Amboy 17-4 to take a 37-19 halftime lead. The Clippers managed just six points in the second half, including being blanked in the fourth frame.

Troy Anderson led Amboy with 11 points, while Eddie Jones and Wes Wilson supplied six points apiece.


Warren topped the Clippers, 62-33, in the Manny’s Shootout on Jan. 21 at West Carroll in Savanna.

A slow start plagued Amboy as it scored only three first-quarter points compared to 13 for Warren. The Clippers were down 26-11 at the break and 47-23 after three.

Jones knocked down three shots from three-point land on his way to a 15-point output for the Clippers. Wilson was next with five points.
