AMBOY -— Lena-Winslow had a huge fifth inning and defeated Amboy, 16-6, in varsity baseball action on April 15 at Lena.
The home team held a one-run lead heading to the bottom of the fifth when it tallied nine runs to end the game by the 10-run rule.
Quinn Leffelman, Tucker Lindenmeyer and Landon Montavon had hits for the Clippers.
Amboy blanked Polo, 10-0, on April 18 at Polo. The game went six innings and was stopped by the 10-run rule.
The Clippers scored four runs each in the fourth and sixth innings to put the game away.
Brody Christoffersen led the Amboy attack with his bat and his arm. He collected three singles at the dish and fired a one-hit shutout on the hill. Polo’s only safety and baserunner came with one out in the sixth. Christoffersen struck out seven and did not issue a walk.
Landon Whelchel, Jackson Rogers, Hayden Wittenauer, Leffelman and Lindenmeyer also got into the hit column for the Clippers.
The Clippers rolled over Polo again, 10-1, on April 21 at Parker Field.
Amboy jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and put it on cruise control after that. The Clippers padded their lead with one run in the fourth, three in the fifth and one in the sixth. Polo’s only tally came in the sixth.
Lindenmeyer was the winning pitcher, giving up just two hits and striking out 11.
Christoffersen collected a pair of singles, while Leffelman stroked a double.
