AMBOY — The Amboy Clippers were defeated in a pair on nonconference games on the hardwood.
Indian Creek held on for a 45-39 triumph over Amboy at Shabbona.
The game was tight throughout, with Amboy trailing 11-10 after the first quarter and 21-17 at intermission. The Clippers were still within striking distance after three periods, 32-27, but couldn’t get over the hump in the fourth.
Tucker Lindenmeyer supplied 17 points to pace the Amboy offensive attack. Brennan Blaine also hit double figures with 13 markers, while Ian Eller dropped in seven tallies.
Cold shooting in the third quarter was costly to the Clippers in a 46-32 loss to Hinckley-Big Rock on Dec. 10 at Hinckley.
After trailing 13-8 at the end of the first quarter, the Clippers put up 10 points in the second period compared to four for the Royals, and Amboy took an 18-17 lead to the locker room. But the Clippers went cold in the third frame, scoring only a single point on a Blaine free throw, and H-BR was able to forge ahead by 13 points (32-19) heading to the fourth quarter.
Lindenmeyer led the way for Amboy with 10 points, followed by Blaine with nine and Connor Simpson with eight.
