Clippers drop lead in loss to Oregon


AMBOY — Amboy could not maintain a fourth-quarter lead and dropped a 60-53 decision at Oregon on Jan. 23.

The Clippers led throughout the contest, including 16-13 after the first quarter and 39-26 at intermission. Oregon climbed back in the game with a 12-4 fourth quarter, and then the Hawks outscored Amboy, 22-10, in the fourth frame to post the comeback victory.

Eddie Jones had a big night offensively for the Clippers, pumping in 22 points as he knocked down four shots from three-point land. Troy Anderson connected on three three-pointers and finished with 12 tallies for Amboy.


The Clippers came up short to Polo, 38-34, on Jan. 25 at the AHS gym.

After leading 10-8 at the end of one period, Amboy managed just two points in the second stanza and found itself down, 20-12, at halftime. The count was 30-26 in favor of the Marcos after three quarters.

Jones (17) and Anderson (13) did a bulk of the scoring for the Clippers.


Eastland pulled away in the second quarter for a 50-40 triumph over Amboy on Jan. 27 at the AHS gym.

Both teams played to a 12-12 first-quarter tie before Eastland pulled out to a 27-17 halftime margin. Amboy trailed 41-26 heading to the fourth frame.

Jones nailed three trifectas on his way to 16 points for the Clippers, while Anderson chipped in with 15 markers. Wes Wilson supplied seven points for Amboy.
