Clipper cross country runners compete at Dale Donner Invitational

WALNUT – Amboy cross country runners competed in the Dale Donner Invitational hosted by Bureau Valley on Sept. 16 at Walnut.

In the varsity girls’ race, Amboy had three competitors. Addison Pertell led the trio with a 100th-place finish in a time of 24:46.7. Samantha Nauman was next in 103rd place at 24:50.7, while Anna Carlson was 121st at 25:31.4.

Sundara Weber of Sandwich was the overall winner in a time of 17:53.4.

The top five teams were Williamsville (86), Elmwood (107), Delavan (116), Sherrard (117) and Seneca (183).

Amboy had one participant in both of the boys’ races. In the varsity run, Brysen Full was 123rd with a time of 21:43.9.

Isaiah Hill of Elmwood topped the field with a clocking of 16:11.9.

Elmwood owned the top spot in the team standings with 77 points, followed by Erie (90), Delavan (116), Chillicothe IVC (141) and East Dubuque (158).

In freshman-sophomore action, Amboy’s Jhett Cowser placed 27th in a time of 16:21.7.

The race was won by Elmwood’s Aiden Faulkner in 14:10.2.

Elwood stood atop the team standings with 36 points, edging out second-place Sherrard, which tallied 42. The rest of the top five teams included Bureau Valley (69), Princeville (84) and Mendota (116).
