STERLING – Phase two of construction is complete at the hospital, finishing the expansive renovations to the main entrance and lobby.
As of Monday, Oct. 14, patients and visitors should once again use the main east parking lot and main entrance. Visitors may also park in the far east lot and use the east entrance (that faces 2nd Avenue).
The temporary west entrance and parking lot will be closed to begin the next phase of construction, which includes renovations to the west entrance and admitting/registration office.
The improved and modernized space features:
A canopy and glass atrium
Improved security surveillance to keep patients and staff safe
An outdoor healing garden to step away from stressful scenarios
Reception desk with improved visibility
Two consultation rooms for enhanced patient privacy
Convenient access to Auxiliary staff for patient support
These upgrades will help make a strong first impression not only with patients and visitors but also with potential new staff. “We want visitors to feel welcome and relaxed in an environment that reflects the high quality of care and service we provide,” said Cindy Zander, CGH Vice President of Support Services.
Apart from the exterior addition, which an outside general contractor built, this phase of the project was completed internally by CGH Plant Operations and Maintenance (POM) staff. “I am proud of our POM department,” Zander said. “This is the largest project we have taken on, and they have done great work. They take pride in it, knowing their family will be cared for here.”
