AMBOY – With two wins over Polo and a victory over Orangeville, the Amboy baseball team is on a three-game winning streak and is above .500 for the season with a 9-8 record.

The Clippers had back-to-back games against Northwest Upstate Illini Conference South Division foe Polo on Tuesday, April 22 at Polo and Thursday, April 24 at Amboy City Park.

Amboy won the first game 14-10 and the second game 6-1.

In the first matchup with Polo, the Clippers scored eight runs in the top of the second inning and six runs off of four hits in the top of the fourth inning.

Senior Brody Christoffersen was the starting pitcher allowing three hits and three runs (one earned) while striking out six and walking two. Senior Eddie Jones and sophomore Tanner Welch both pitched in relief.

Amboy tallied 12 hits with Christoffersen accredited for with two hits and three RBI. Senior Quinn Leffelman also tallied two hits while junior Rylan McNinch stole three bases.

The second game against the Marcos wasn’t as close as senior Carson Barlow earned the win on the mound with two allowed hits and one surrendered run while striking bout out seven and walking two.

McNinch led the Clippers with three RBI while Leffelman was 3-of-4. Barlow and freshman Landon Carter had multiple hits.

To close for comfort, Amboy beat Orangeville Saturday, April 26 in walk-off fashion when freshman Bryson Deery singled to bring in a run in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 6-5 victory.

Carter was the starting pitcher as he allowed four hits and three runs while striking out four and walking two in four innings.

Senior Caleb Shugars, Leffelman, and Deery each drove in a run for Amboy.
