SUBLETTE — Anna Elizabeth "Betty" Prendergast, 99, of Sublette, died on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022 at Franklin Grove Living and Rehab.
She was born on March 31, 1922 in Troy Grove Township in LaSalle County, the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth (Roetzel) Sondgeroth. Betty was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sublette, the St. Anne Sodality, the Idle While Card Club for over 60 years and had been a 4-H leader. Betty was also a seamstress and loved to bake. She also loved hosting her family for holidays.
She married Arthur Prendergast on June 19, 1940 in Sublette. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1986.
Betty is also preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Wagner; grandson, Jeff Marschang; five sisters, Hattie Rapp, Cora Jones, Helen Leiser, Florence Sondgeroth, and Dolores Setchell.
She is survived by her children, Judy (David Setchell) Marschang, of Sublette, Sheila (Michael) Brady, of Amboy, Tom (Julie Deutsch) Prendergast, of Dixon, Steve (Cheryl) Prendergast, of Dixon; 11 grandchildren, Mike (Lynn) Wagner, Debi (Chad) Bromenschenkel, Doug (Sarah) Marschang, Brenda (Pete) Prevenas, Nathan Berk, Andrea Berk, Timothy (Carolina Vidal) Prendergast, Bridget (Clint Reed) Prendergast, Alicia (Tyler) Price, Jason Prendergast, and Sarah (Alex) Hoffmann; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Kritz of Peewaukee, Wis.
A family Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sublette. Burial will follow at St Mary Cemetery in Sublette. A memorial has been established to the Sublette Fire Department. A public memorial Mass and celebration of life will be held later in the year.
