Amboy High School Report 10-23-24

To give back to the community that has given so much to us, the FFA has developed punch cards to use in local businesses which will allow you to get a punch for every $10 spent at one of the participating local businesses.

Once your card is full, drop it off at Amboy High School to be entered into a drawing at the end of the school year to win a prize. It’s a win-win for you and the business. Every time you spend $10, you get a punch. The businesses attract customers who may have spent money at a chain business. Help your local small businesses and the AHS FFA provides the prizes at the end of the year.

Punch cards can be picked up at any of these participating locations: Long Branch, Rev Wellness, The Cookie Jar, LaFiesta, Uncle B’s, Roadhouse, Amboy Food and Liquor, Sunset, Marias, and Shady Oaks, or the high school office.

Congratulations to Gloria Parker on making the IMEA District 8 Music Festival in DeKalb. She auditioned against hundreds of students in Northwest Illinois and was one of the 80-100 selected to be a part of the band. This band performs on November 16 at DeKalb High School. Congratulations to Gloria.

Also on November 16, the pep band has been selected to play at the IHSA volleyball state final games from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Illinois State University. Bands from across the state audition for this, and we were given a spot. We are very excited to be able to take advantage of this opportunity awarded to our pep band and our students.

Last week, University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and Western Illinois University were here to speak to students and hand out promotional materials. This week Whiteside Area Career Center is coming to speak to sophomore students about programs they offer to juniors and seniors. Students will also have a lesson on stress and time management.

With the end of first quarter and getting into the holiday season, we see a lot of students starting to get anxious this time of year.

The Week 9 home football game for the Clippers has been moved from Friday, Oct. 25 to Saturday, Oct. 26. Senior Night festivities will start at approximately 12:30 p.m. on the track, followed by the 1 p.m. kickoff against Bushnell-Prairie City.
